Living abroad?

Some lenders don’t offer mortgages to UK nationals living abroad, and those that do may have stricter criteria or different rates. As a whole-of-market broker, we work with specialist lenders and building societies that consider expat applications.

Whether you’re looking to buy a property in the UK or refinance one you already own, talk to our team about the options available to you.

Homeowner expats

Are you looking to buy a property in the UK for you or your family to live in? Perhaps you’re planning to return to the UK, want a permanent home to come back to when you visit, or already own a UK property and want to refinance.

We can help you understand which lenders may consider your circumstances and what they’re likely to need from you.

Expat Buy-to-Let

If you’re looking to start or grow a UK property portfolio while living abroad, we can help you explore expat Buy-to-Let mortgages.

Getting a Buy-to-Let mortgage as an expat isn’t as straightforward as it is for UK residents. You may face additional affordability checks, and the number of lenders available can vary a lot depending on where you live and the currency you’re paid in.

Your adviser will assess your whole situation, your plans and any preferences you have before making a recommendation.

Do I need to come to the UK for my appointment?

Yes. As part of our regulatory and business requirements, mortgage advice can only be provided to clients whilst they are physically present in the UK.

Appointments can usually be conducted by telephone or video call, but the client must be located in the UK at the time the advice is given. Once the advice process has been completed, we can often continue to progress the application remotely.
